Being held
I was asked a while ago if we could start the session with cuddles, just being close before the actual massage.
I said yes and it turned out to be a very beautiful part of the session.
We lied down on the bed and were just still, close, breathing together. I noticed how quickly their shoulders dropped, how their breathing slowed without trying to make that happen.
It made me think about how rarely we get this with another person, just being held with nothing expected back.
Being held by someone safe helps regulate the nervous system. Heart rate slows, breathing deepens and the part of us that's usually a little on alert gets to switch off for a while.
I think many of us are missing this more than we realise.
Adults barely touch each other anymore unless it's sexual or it's a quick hug hello. Is it just me, or do you sometimes wish when you meet a friend you could hug for a little longer? Some people are comfortable with that, others are not. And then there's that funny moment of wondering who is going to let go first.
I think many people go a long time without anyone simply holding them because we don't really have spaces where touch can exist without leading somewhere.
That is the reason why I decided to offer cuddle therapy as part of my longer sessions, for anyone who enjoys being close and would like to experience that.
I set the space with comfortable bedding and cushions, dim the lights and put on some relaxing nature sounds. From there, we simply see what feels right. Sometimes we stay quiet, sometimes we chat a little. I might gently stroke your hair or your body, or we might simply lie there holding one another.
I usually suggest 15 to 30 minutes of this, as part of a session of 90 minutes or more, so there's still plenty of time for the rest of the session afterwards.
If you'd like to try it, just mention it when you confirm your appointment.
"I've had a few cuddle sessions with Rosie and will definitely be booking again. She is so kind and sweet and loves in the moment. I feel very comfortable, relaxed and safe during the session. I would definitely recommend this nice little mental break from the world in a safe and compassionate environment with Rosie."
Love,
