Soft and Wild - a book from my heart

My heart feels soft this morning. I have just returned from a short trip to the south of England, a few quiet days to meet a friend, to rest, and to write. This time gave me more clarity about my book and even a new direction. What began as one book has now blossomed into two.

Writing this book has been a beautiful, unexpected journey. I never thought I could do it. I have always loved books (my childhood home was filled with them) yet I thought they were to be read, not written. Although some of my family have published books, and we even have entire notebooks filled with my grandma’s memoirs and poetry, I never truly imagined myself as an author.

And yet, here I am. The book is almost finished now. I am working on the last stories, polishing the language, and finding the best way to publish it.

A few days ago, I shared some of my stories with a dear guest of mine, who is a successful published author. His words were so encouraging, so affirming, that they gave me the courage to go ahead with this book. Sometimes, all it takes is one person seeing you to remind you that your voice matters.

The book is a bouquet of erotic stories and poems, some lived, some dreamed, some whispered longings. They are raw and erotic and innocent, just as I feel s*exuality to be. It is nothing like porn, and nothing like traditional romance novels. It feels fresh, tender, vulnerable… it feels like me.

The book is called Soft and Wild.

To share it feels both exciting and vulnerable. I hope I won’t change my mind :) perhaps even writing this blog is my way of committing to its birth. It will still take a little time, a few more months, before it becomes the shape I imagine for these precious stories.

Until then, I would love to leave you with one of the poems that will be part of Soft and Wild: She made love to the Earth (next blog).
