''Which tantric massage should I choose for my first session?''

Someone recently asked me which session I would recommend for someone who has never experienced a tantric massage before.

I thought it was a good question and perhaps one that other people have wondered about too.

Firstly, I think it is completely natural to feel a little nervous when trying something new, particularly when the experience involves intimacy, touch and allowing yourself to receive and letting go of control. You don't need to arrive feeling completely confident or knowing exactly what to expect.

Before booking, I recommend taking some time to read through my website and blogs so you can become familiar with what I offer and what an intimate massage involves. You may also want to read about tantric massage from other sources, particularly if the whole idea is new to you. There are many different approaches to tantra and tantric massage, so what you read elsewhere may not describe exactly what I offer, but it can help you become more familiar with the concept.

And of course, if there is something you are unsure about that I haven't addressed on my website, I am always happy to answer any questions before you book. I would much rather you come to a session feeling informed and comfortable with your decision.

So, which session should you choose for your first experience? It really depends on you.

A one-hour session can be a good place to start if you would simply like to experience tantric massage and have a taste of what I offer without committing to one of the longer sessions. For some people, particularly when everything is new, that feels like the right amount of time.

My personal favourite, however, is the two-hour Aqua Ritual.

I love this session because there is time to arrive, settle in and gradually allow yourself to relax without feeling rushed. Sometimes we imagine that we will walk through the door, lie down and immediately switch off, but bodies don't always work like that. If you've had a busy day, travelled to see me or you're naturally a little nervous because it's your first experience, it can take some time before you begin to soften and really enjoy receiving.

The water element of the Aqua Ritual adds something quite special. The warmth can help the muscles relax, and there is something very soothing about being supported and held by water before moving into the massage. I find it especially lovely during the colder months, when being immersed in warm water feels even more inviting.

That doesn't mean that two hours is automatically better for everybody. The right first session depends on what appeals to you, how much time you would like to give yourself and also how much you feel comfortable investing in the experience.

I also have other offerings, including different experiences and add-ons, so have a look through them and see what clicks for you. You might find yourself drawn to something different from the sessions I've mentioned here.

Really, any of them can be the best choice for your first experience. There isn't a correct way to begin. Whichever session you choose, we will have time beforehand to talk about what to expect, your boundaries and anything you would like me to know. You don't need to arrive knowing how to relax, how to receive touch or how you are supposed to respond. There isn't a particular response you need to have.

Your first tantric massage is simply an opportunity to experience something new, at your own pace and discover how it feels for you.
